Overview

Lodges in the trees, a short drive from Glossop.

Charlesworth Lodges is a small group of timber lodges at Lodge Farm on Boggard Lane in Charlesworth. The grounds sit under a wooded hillside, with gravel drives, lawns and a stone entrance marked by a millstone. Glossop town centre is about 2.1 miles away, so this is a base for the valley rather than a stay on the High Street.

You cook for yourself. Each the listing room type lists a kitchen with an oven, hob, fridge and toaster. Four of the five room types also list a private hot tub, a dishwasher and a high chair. One-Bedroom House 3 lists a kitchen and a shower, and does not list a hot tub or a dishwasher.

Hoseasons sells named lodges here, including Coombes View, Woodland, Amour, Amour Deluxe, The Retreat and The Old Barn Cottage. Those names are not matched to the listing's five room labels, so choose the lodge on the site you are booking and read that description.

The room type changes what you get outside.

If a hot tub is the point of the trip, use a the listing room type that lists one. Two-Bedroom House, Two-Bedroom House 2, One-Bedroom Holiday Home and One-Bedroom House 2 each list a private hot tub. One-Bedroom House 3 does not.

The photographs show hot tubs on terraces beside the lodges, with fields and the ridge beyond some of them. A terrace photo is not a promise that every lodge has the same view. Amour Deluxe, a Hoseasons name, has steps to the bath and shower, so do not treat any lodge as step-free.

Arrive slowly, and do not trust the pin to the gate.

The entrance is signed Charlesworth Lodges at Lodge Farm. The last approach is described as a long, narrow, bumpy single-track lane, and guest comments describe meeting another car and reversing. The map uses the SK13 5HL postcode point. That is the postcode centre, not a surveyed gate. Follow the Lodge Farm sign, and do not rely on satellite navigation for the last stretch.

Beyond the essentials

Interesting points about Charlesworth Lodges

Charlesworth, not the town centre

High Peak groups Charlesworth with Glossop in Glossopdale and keeps Charlesworth as its own locality. the listing places the lodges 2.1 miles from the centre of Glossop. Treat this as a Charlesworth stay.

Two booking inventories

the listing lists five room labels. Hoseasons lists named lodges, including Coombes View, Woodland, Amour, Amour Deluxe, The Retreat and The Old Barn Cottage. No shared identifier links the two lists, so the guide does not treat them as the same rooms.

Verdict

Is Charlesworth Lodges right for you?

Charlesworth Lodges suits guests who want a self-catering lodge in its own grounds, with a kitchen and, on most of the listing room types, a private hot tub. It is a car-based stay in Charlesworth, a short drive from Glossop, the station and the Market Hall.
