The 26 and 27 buses from the street outside run to the bus station here, which makes the city centre a single ride rather than a project. Royal Albert Dock
Three miles down the hill, the red-brick warehouses on the waterfront hold The Beatles Story and a run of bars along the quayside, with Tate Liverpool running from Mann Island while its dock building is redeveloped. Go late in the afternoon: the light comes off the water onto the brickwork, and the Anglican Cathedral tower stands over the whole thing from the ridge behind.
