Where to stay in Dyce: airport, station and P&J Live
Dyce is Aberdeen’s airport-side district, with a station for trips into the city and the River Don for time outdoors. Choose the village and station area, the airport hotel zone or Stoneywood around the journey that matters to you. The important distinction is simple: Dyce station and Aberdeen Airport’s passenger terminal are separate places.

Dyce village & the station
Stay around Victoria Street for rail connections, everyday services and the village streets. Broomlea Guest House is in this part of Dyce.
The railway station and airport terminal are separate places. Check the onward journey and your room’s bathroom arrangements.
Broomlea Guest House guideAirport & business-park side
Consider Dyce Drive and International Avenue for a flight, airport work, car hire or a business visit.
This is a dispersed, road-oriented area. Check the actual terminal connection, food options and luggage route; airport parking is a separate arrangement.
Stoneywood & P&J Live
Worth comparing for concerts, exhibitions and conferences at P&J Live, outside the old village core.
Plan the event entrance and return connection. An airport-side address does not establish a walkable route to the venue.
Central Aberdeen
Compare a city-centre stay for museums, Union Street, restaurants and sightseeing on foot.
Dyce–Aberdeen train time is only part of the journey. Allow time at each end and check the last service for an evening out.

When to visit Dyce
Spring and summer give more scope for the River Don and longer walking or cycling days. Dyce has a cool maritime climate. The Met Office’s 1991–2020 historical averages put the mean daily maximum at about 6.8°C in January and 18.5°C in July; these are climate normals, not a forecast for your visit.
Autumn and winter can work well for flights, business and indoor events, with closer attention to daylight, wet ground and current path conditions. Check the weather before riverside outings. No all-weather, flood-free or fully step-free river route is promised.
P&J Live’s calendar can matter more than the season for an event trip. Check the exact show, entry arrangements and last connection before deciding where to stay. Individual food venues and accommodation may have their own opening arrangements.
For qualifying overnight stays from 1 April 2027, Aberdeen City Council has approved a 7% visitor levy. Dyce is within Aberdeen City. Check current implementation, exemptions and the complete booking total for affected dates; do not assume it applies to every booking.
Best areas to stay in Dyce
Dyce village, Victoria Street and the station suit visitors who value rail access, everyday services and a residential setting. Broomlea Guest House is in this part of Dyce, with advertised free parking and shared-bathroom room choices. It is a village-side stay rather than a terminal hotel; check the exact room and onward journey.
Airport, Dyce Drive and International Avenue accommodation can be useful for flights, airport work, car hire and business visits. This is a dispersed, road-oriented area. Compare the actual terminal connection, food access and luggage route. A hotel name containing airport does not prove a walk from the terminal or include airport parking.
Stoneywood and the P&J Live edge make sense when a concert, exhibition or conference is the reason for travelling. The venue is outside the old village core. Plan the event entrance and return connection; being on the airport side of Aberdeen does not make every guest house walkable to the arena.
For museums, Union Street, dining and sightseeing on foot, compare central Aberdeen. The short Dyce-to-Aberdeen train journey makes a city day possible, but station-to-station time is only part of the trip. A late-evening visit still needs a current timetable.
Getting to Dyce and around
Aberdeen International Airport is the local air gateway. Its guidance describes Dyce as the nearest railway station, about two miles from the passenger terminal, with onward bus or taxi options. Plan from your actual arrival point with your luggage and flight time; an airfield distance is not a verified terminal walk.
Dyce station serves the Aberdeen–Inverness route, with services into Aberdeen and north towards Elgin and Inverness, plus some through services from Edinburgh or Glasgow. The airport’s visitor information quotes about ten minutes from Dyce to Aberdeen. Check the train for your date, platform and final destination.
National Rail currently lists Category A step-free access to all Dyce platforms, with lifts. That is station-specific information, not a guarantee of a step-free train gap, airport connection, street route or accommodation entrance. Ask about the whole journey if access or luggage handling is important. Check current toilet facilities before travelling.
Stagecoach’s current 727 material describes an airport–P&J Live–Aberdeen corridor with overnight operation. Frequency and stops vary, so check the actual timetable and connection. Confirm any separate station-to-terminal shuttle before relying on it.
Drivers should use the airport’s current road approach information from the A96 and check the exact accommodation entrance. Airport car parks and property parking are separate arrangements. Confirm vehicle limits, unloading, overnight restrictions and any accessible space rather than assume a reserved bay.
The Formartine and Buchan Way begins at Dyce and follows a former railway north. It offers an off-road walking and cycling option, but check closures, surface conditions and the approach from your chosen accommodation, especially if you need step-free access.
Things to do around Dyce
The River Don is a good starting point for a local outdoor day. Choose a walk for the daylight, weather and your ability; keep access checks separate from a scenic photograph.
Sample the Dyce end of the Formartine and Buchan Way, or make it the beginning of a longer planned outing. The former railway route eventually branches at Maud towards Peterhead and Fraserburgh. The full trail is a regional journey, not a short local loop.
Dyce Symbol Stones provide a distinct heritage visit at the ruined St Fergus church. Historic Environment Scotland describes a pair of Pictish stones, including one with an ogham inscription, and currently lists the site as open all year. Check notices and the actual approach before travelling; no accommodation-to-site walking time is claimed.
P&J Live in Stoneywood brings concerts, exhibitions and conferences to the airport side of Aberdeen. Use the operator’s event calendar and venue access information, allowing for the specific entry point and transport after the event.
For a wider day out, take the train into Aberdeen and use the existing city guide for museums, restaurants and central sights. Those are Aberdeen excursions, rather than attractions relabelled as being in Dyce.

Food and drink in Dyce
Cafe 21, also styled Cafe Twenty One, is at the Station Buildings on Station Road. Its own site lists coffee, brunch, lunch and takeaway service. Check opening days and dietary arrangements before relying on a particular meal.
Dyce Farm is a Farmhouse Inns pub and restaurant on the airport/business-park side, with carvery-style food and operator-advertised parking. It is more relevant to an airport-side or driving itinerary than to assuming every dinner is a station-side walk.
Caskieben at Aberdeen Dyce Hotel advertises coffee, lunch and dinner, including pre- and post-event dining. It is a hotel restaurant; check current service and booking arrangements for your event date.
Pinehurst Lodge has a restaurant and whisky lounge. Published food-service times were inconsistent during research, so no exact opening schedule is promised here. Check directly before travelling, especially when timing a late arrival.
Terminal food and drink venues are useful for passengers using Aberdeen Airport. They should not be treated as ordinary village dining without checking terminal access. Discuss allergens and dietary needs with any venue; a menu description does not establish its procedures for a particular requirement.
Frequently asked questions about Dyce
Is Dyce in Aberdeen or Aberdeenshire?
Dyce is in the Aberdeen City local-authority area. Wider tourism and commercial descriptions may use Aberdeenshire, but the neighbouring council area is separate. Dyce, Aberdeen is a clear way to describe this destination.
Is Dyce station at Aberdeen Airport?
No. The airport describes Dyce station as about two miles from the passenger terminal and gives bus or taxi options for the onward connection. Check the actual route with luggage; no terminal walking time is guaranteed.
How long is the train into Aberdeen?
Aberdeen Airport’s visitor guidance quotes roughly ten minutes from Dyce to Aberdeen. This is station to station; check the current service and add time for both ends of the journey.
Can I reach the airport by bus overnight?
Current Stagecoach material describes overnight 727 operation. Check the current timetable, correct stop and connection from your accommodation; a 24-hour corridor is not a door-to-door service guarantee.
What is there to do outdoors?
The River Don provides a local landscape focus and the Formartine and Buchan Way starts at Dyce. Choose a section suited to daylight, weather and your ability, checking current closures and surfaces.
What heritage is local to Dyce?
The Dyce Symbol Stones at the ruined St Fergus church are a local Pictish heritage stop. Historic Environment Scotland currently lists the site as open all year; check current notices and access before visiting.
Is Dyce useful for P&J Live?
It can be, especially when an event is the main purpose of the trip. Compare the exact address, venue entrance and return transport. Stoneywood’s arena is separate from the village and station, and central Aberdeen may be preferable for general sightseeing.
Does free hotel parking include an offshore trip?
Do not assume so. Accommodation parking, long-stay offshore parking and airport parking are separate products. Check the property’s current terms, dates and vehicle restrictions before leaving a car beyond your stay.
Will the visitor levy apply?
Aberdeen City Council has approved a 7% levy for qualifying stays from 1 April 2027. Check current application, exemptions and the complete total for your dates. This is a future rule in a guide reviewed in October 2026.
